Rehearsals

SCYC rehearsals are held on Monday evenings, September through June.

Membership in SCYC is open to all interested singers who can commit to the terms of membership and the effort required to keep pace with the musical progress of the ensemble. Singers may have an initial and possibly subsequent voice assessments with the director to guide their successful participation. Exact placement of choristers will be determined as the director gets to know choristers and what level of instruction will benefit everyone the most.

For example, some third graders, especially experienced ones, are ready to move directly into Cantare in the fall; other third graders, especially if new to choir, may be more successful if they wait until winter or spring quarter. And given the wide range of both musical knowledge/ability and emotional readiness in middle schoolers, deciding which ensemble will be the best fit should be determined on a case-by-case basis.
